Piracy Kills Volume 2 - Do we as consumers give a fuck about the Artists ?
June 20, 2008 · No Comments
I’m not the godfather, the don, the Corleone of this godforsaken cause called music industry. But as a man who enjoy listening to good urban music. I’ve seen what change in the market has happened, but still the hype around the artist is bigger than the sales. People want to use more cash on concerts then the product they have home. Even some artist only uses CDs or LPs as a marketing tool. Do we as consumers give a fuck about the artists?
Piracy Kills Volume 1 – But is the music industry made for the consumer?
http://asap08.wordpress.com/2008/06/19/piracy-kills-but-is-the-music-industry-made-for-the-consumer/
Just think in a clear state of mind. Even in a New York State of Mind (thanks Nas). We ordinary people (John Legend) work a day job to pay the bills. So don’t quit your day job (Consequence). If we’re not working we’re not able to pay for apartment, food & TV. You get the idea right? Doesn’t Nas, John Legend and Consequence need to do the same shit? If your answer is something else than yes then you need to get your head exam. Does we as consumers have the right to take the bread away from the composers and artist that bring us s much joy? Nah, that can be right, right? That is from the man that loves rap, hip hop, soul, rnb & calls that fucking urban say that the artist need money to the daily bread. When I’m supposed to see a new chain every time the artist is out with a new LP he is supposed to wear that shit right? We’re do the dude earn money to that chain, hopefully not bagging the grocery at the local bodega! A gangsta, playboy or a major hustler can do that. Except if he is frontin’ on TV with baggy jeans and complaining at his deal with Columbia records. Then we all accept why he is still without a truckload of diamonds on his personal chain. But if the artist we’re something small, not visible or the same as to years ago. We’re saying that his broke. The reason his last CD and tour went sour. Why because we’re the major thief. No need for the blue lights to jump up on the screen. The pigs who come when you’re sitting their on lime wire getting down Mr. Boombatta and his fast-forward crew from Bronx or Ohio. So shit. Why, I ask you why? It’s kind of okey from a grand view that we got opportunities to not buy the shit at the store. But instead just be secure we download the crap and complain at the labels. Isn’t that a bitch? We’re who really love Hip Hop complains that the rappers that sells isn’t lyrical? The one that are lyrical getting their ass download more time than their music video get played the Youtube. So we’re saying like we did at the music industry in general. Fuck you and fuck me too.
Some of us buyers try to Mr. Me Too (Clipse) but in the long run it’s becoming a joke. We can’t be the responsible for the outcome for the artist. When did we have authority to change the sales in this major way? Like getting this bit torrent to change a industry from the bottom. Apple company did change a lot with IPods. As a consumer I was happy with the MP3s and what that do to my daily life. But that it could be an invitation to death match for the companies was a joke for ten years ago. Now it’s a reality. The artist is the one that pays the price of it. Yes they still make money of the tours. I’m in a lucky guess it’s only a small portion of artist who earn good cash on the CDs. Does the consumer really give a fuck?
My answer is hellnaaaw. We’re greedy bastards who only wish to get the merchandise for free. To tell the truth as an honest consumer I’ll pay for my favourite artist any day. And I think you should too if you don’t wish to see your favourite artist to be newspaper seller on the closest corner. Maybe he is selling the paper there already? Fuck it. But you’re getting my point. Set you’re mind right. Use the cash flow that you’re getting right. If you do, the major artist might afford a respectable chain in his next music video and a comfortable situation to make great music in. Then the artist doesn’t need to act a fool (Ludacris) in a bad film too pay his bills. Do you agree with me or just don’t give a shit? Be free to spit. But don’t think the series of Piracy Kills is over. As long it’s a opportunity to get free music easier than going to the Internet store or the local spot. I’ll talk about it just in need of it. Not because I’m the saint of this business. But a trill man that stands up for a cause and for the dudes that makes good music for my personal ears fuckers! By the Way (Red Hot Chilli peppers) Peace.
